Head guards

Postby Wassy » Sun Jan 13, 2019 1:36 pm

I’m after a set of head guards for my 1200s which is currently fitted with the standard plastic ones. I’m guessing that the same year GS ones will fit.
Anyone got a set that they want to sell.
Thanks

Is it the Ilmberger carbon head covers you're after? You just missed a set on here but they're not cheap. Try German Ebay. There's generally a few new sets for sale but they're upwards of £350. Not sure of other peoples experiences but mine weren't the best fit

Just seeing what the options are tbh. There are some cheap Chinese ones on eBay for the Gs but might look a bit odd on the S. I’ve noticed how little stuff comes up for these bikes but I’m sure something will pop up.

The original R1200GSA protective covers (as fitted to yrs 2006-2009) are the ones to go for. They afford real protection of the rocker covers.

Try Motorworks or Ebay?
If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....

Cheers, there’s been a couple of sets for the LC models on the ukgser forum so I’ll keep an eye out on there as well.

Agreed, but while they fit the look of an 'overlander' GSA they look like crap on a 12S. Painting them black would help, mind.

Now there's an idea Steve [smilie=thinking about.gif]

The HP2-style carbon covers (Ilmberger ones very similar) look great but how much???? Feckin ridiclious  It's all very well having 'blingy pots' but a short-arse like myself is prone to use these sticky-out bits as an extreme side stand on occasion. Done mine on both sides now  So, what's needed is sacrificial protection. The cheap(ish) carbon guards my bike wears have done their job in this respect - just a shame they make plug/coil/cap removal such a faff. Now on the look out for another solution that doesn't look like military grade Meccano...
