What's the collective wisdom on a sat-nav mount for the R1200S?

Have a Garmin Zumo 660

Thanks

I use this item from Hornig,

very neat and can place your satnav on either the RHS or as I do, on the left. ( no good if you use helibars though)

You may also need a Canbus connector to splice into your Garmin cable

Nice choice of bike there mate :)

Check out my question on sat nav mount. Topcat posted a pic using the u bolt through the slot in the top yoke - watch for bar stops tho - mount it on the uppermost side of the slot. You'll see what I mean

Saw a fella out recently, with a Kawasaki Ninja - who had mounted the Garmin clamp to the LH mirror stalk. It presented the screen more towards his line of sight than from the headstock, and easily operated with his left hand.

Not tried that myself, but could be worth a dry-run?

I ordered myself this mount also, works perfect and places the nav in the right spot, not blocking any display.

Thanks guys but I have helibars on the bike so the Hornig Ram ball won't fit.
There is no slot in the top yoke (has a plastic insert) so I can't use the u bolt arrangement either.
Map pocket in the tank bag looks favourite at the moment.

You can!

I think I just took it off and ran a drill bit through it! Maybe not the best solution but at the time, I had all the bits and had to get it done.

I think a new plastic bit is about a fiver. I find it puts the Sat nav is a good position, a little more forward than the Telferizer mount (plus I like the BMW roundel  )

John, you can always drill and tap the helibars with an 8MM tap and fit a ram ball (copyright Droptarotter http://www.boxertrix.com/phpBB2/viewtop ... t=helibars)

just fitted my old tomtom to my r1100s by putting a longer bolt through the clip on and then putting a 25mm tube with an M8 insert onto the end, looks great and a nice simple installation.

Yep Dave, a new plastic insert is about a fiver (i got one in case I went down that route). I asked Bob at Telferizer about removing the roundel and he says there isn't anything to mount to underneath - it's just a cover - I had a look and believe he's right. He asked me to send him some pictures of the cockpit and he would try to find a solution but I haven't been able to send them for some reason. He has managed to come up with something for the HP2. Turns out the guy he made the mount for was the original owner of my BCR!!!

Saw the same fella with the Kawasaki 636, with his Zumo 660 mounted.

Location works well..........

Just been in the garage and fitting a new to me Garmin 390lm to my 12s, I've used the ram mount lever clamp that is supplied and it would work to a quite reasonable affect, it's not the most elegant solution but would work if I didn't use a Givi tank lock bag which it touches, so I think that I shall tap the Heli bar and fit a ram ball there, it would resemble Roadburer's fitting on his 11s.
