Poss recall coming up - Update
Heads up for the UK guys. Recently there's been details of a recall in North America of all their post 2004 bikes for fuel pump leak problems. I emailed and asked VOSA if they were aware of it and got this reply.
"Dear Mr Parry
Thank you for your email. This has been forwarded to the Vehicle Safety
Team.
I can confirm that we are aware of this recall in Canada and we are in
touch with BMW UK to discuss this issue.
Regards and Happy New Year.

Cheers Phil
Sense would say to get rid, but there's still that little part of me that says it's surely must have run out of things to break by now
The internal engine & drivertrain stuff is clearer on the warranty as it simply states any lubricated part, which is everything in the casings

I know, one side says get rid, the other side says I know its history and any replacement would be an unknown

Sounds to me - like it has been abused................

If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........
See if that works .....

The width of the performance envelope of a slant K12GT means it's damn near impossible to abuse on the road and still be alive Al .... I've tried ... but there's more than I can stretch

As the BMW boss himself admitted, they dropped the ball on quality during the period from about 05 to 08. I think things are much better now, but that does not help us left with models from that era.

I look at my 06 bike and some of the design should never have made it off the drawing board or past testing.
I am thinking final drive, some fit and finish items and the headlight mechanism that almost always breaks the first time you try to change a bulb.

Illustrating the need for that most indispensable motorcycle maintenance tool, the Sykes Fairbairn commando knife
Seriously, make sure the new hose clamps are done up as tight as you dare, or it will leak.
