Nuts

Postby Daveg2812 » Mon May 20, 2013 6:49 pm

Finished putting the bike back together at the weekend and noticed these two nuts left over. Don't remember removing them at all and can't seem to find anwhere for them. They're M6 thread and 1cm long.

Has anyone any idea where they're from.

Thanks in advance.

Be still my aching sides  Not from inside the engine Al, haven't had it to bits that much. TBH, only had forks out, bodywork, calipers and air duct off, tank raised to get at the battery and err, not much else really.

ROFLMAO :toothy10:

Thought I was the only one with this problem. Always seems to happen with bodywork work .... rattle bang clunk - oh carp - was that a crankshaft ....

I have a small box of bits, obviously completely redundant, dating back over 2 vans, 2 cars, and one bike. As well as a dishwasher, the TV that went up in smoke, and a washing machine. Never had any leftover from the anvil.

No Steve, didn't take the battery tray out. Beginning to wonder if I'm actually going 'nuts', as I'd been working on the bike over two days, first day I didn't notice them, yet on the second, they were just there, directly under the bike like sore thumbs. When I found them I was trying to retrace my steps over what I'd done that might have caused it, but came up with nothing. Oh well, don't suppose the wheels are gonna come off.

Do you have a mate with a good (sick) sense of humour??

I have in the past been known to do this very sort of thing to my mates....it's as funny as hell the amount of time they spend scratching their heads wondering what, where the new bits are from!!

Or the other one when they drop a nut/bolt and it rolls away help them looking for it (and quickly find it) then wait til they start moving all the junk in the garage as you tell them you think it has rolled under something!!

But sorry no clue where they come from!!

Doh!, problem solved.

My hugger fits with two metal brackets, one of which fits around the rear of the swing arm, and screws into, yes, two nuts, one on either side, which fit like so.

So glad I didn't bin them.
