Not part number 5. They aren't shown on that drawing, but the bearings in question sit in the final drive and rotate around trunions 8 and 10 on that drawing.
Interesting discussion re. needle rollers (tapered or not!) versus bushes. I've experimented before with making and using bushes; Phosphor-bronze and also more modern kevlar composites. I'm not convinced that this would be the right application for a bush. Some easy way of purging and regreasing the bearings in-situ would be good maybe. Problem with either is that a small bit of crud in there will cause lots of damage.... Not like a deep grove bearing.... No room for it to hide!
Most of the play in mine has come from the bearing turning on the outer trunion. I'll take pics later.
