Fitting Remus Headers

Postby Scuzzlebutt » Wed Apr 23, 2008 6:09 pm

I put Remus front pipes on last night. When I start the bike there is a lot of exhaust vapour coming from the Y piece to tail pipe joint.

I used the existing springs to attach this joint and the ones supplied with the header pipes to join the front pipes to Y piece.

There is also more movement in the exhaust than before as the hanger which was attached to the bottom of the engine has now been removed.

Have I done everything correctly?

Hi Scuzzlebut

I fitted my Remus headers at the weekend andit was a bit of a strucking fuggle!

Found that had to keep all parts loose before tightening anything but made special use of the rubber mallet and lube (oh err  ) to get the y piece fully located on the downpipes before anything else - it is a bit tricky as you cant do this off the bike as the pipes are a snug fit around the engine block!

I don't think it leaks but I noticed the silencer does sit at the back edge of the underseat lugs.

If anyone else going to Wales has a Remus on a 12S I wouldn't mind a peep under your seat (so to speak)

Dare I leave the baffles out?..........

I found the pipes really easy to fit but I didn't expect quite so visible leakage at the joints. If they're attached both ends and the springs are on, I guess it must be ok.

The Scuzzlebutt is a Southpark reference, nothing more!! [smilie=stop here.gif]
