Small plate
Thinking of getting a 'show plate' for the bike.
Was thinking quite small indeed, about 2x8. Is there any decent tail tidys around for the 1100? Or is it a matter of just taking a hacksaw to the original plastic mount, which I don't really want to do?

Hey i had a small 2X8 but got knicked (police) twice, then the cop said if u put a small but rectangle one on, still illegal, they wont pull me. its because of its "letterbox" shape that makes it a piss take!
just thought i would let u know.

I think, but don't use me as a line of defence in a court of law, that you are allowed a smaller than standar rectangular plate as long as the font is that of the standard issue and the plate is readable from a certain distance. This distance is 30 something, feet, meters, yards....er sorry.
anyhoo, this info i gathered from a chap who works inspecting vehicles for police traffic stops.
I guess as long as your not silly with it you may get away with it. but not guaranteed.
the single line plates are a big no no and say ' please pull me'.
good luck

Agghhhhhhh.......don't get me started on the tossers who think it's perfectly acceptable to f*ck about with letters and numbers and add gromits (black or yellow/white to suit their needs) to make their reg read their name (how clever is that??) but which actually means you can't read the plate as its suppossed to be, unless you study it for two minutes.
I have a slightly smaller than legal plate but it is perfectly legible from 30 yards and further. Some of these 'oh look, I have my name on my car, aren't I clever' plates can't be easily read from 10 feet!!
Who's more likely to get a tug from the rossers??
There is an MR2 round by me where the registration reads 'Hazell' Anybody like to take a guess what its supposed to be because in 5 years I haven't been able to work it out.
I wonder if these people change their plates at MOT time??
Sorry...rant over

Just to show that money does not buy you good taste. I followed a Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead yesterday (cost over £250,000) it's owner thought it was great to have the following plate. TOO 6EXY gag gag vomit
There would appear to be a surfeit of prolixity and sesquipedalian content today please do not use a big word when a singularly un-loquacious and diminutive linguistic expression will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity
The director of a company who took our small company under its wing had a bently with the reg RW 5 or some other random number. The first letters being his intials.I was parking my bike next to it when some young girls walked by.One commented "look at that car ,oohh and a private reg" The other girl replied, deadpan "RW ? Yeah, right wanker!"
