Sorry to be a pain but does anyone know where I can buy Loctite 2701 or 270 over the counter. Ive bought some stainless bolts to replace the original plated ones holding on my brake discs and the chappie recommended I use the above products to fix em in. An internet search just brings up places that only sell it via the web.
Or can anyone advise if 271 is suitable for fixing brake disc bolts in place??

Don't use 270 - it is high yield studlock
You want a low/medium-yield nutlock, that provides reasonable resistance to creeping, while providing lubrication to the stainless steel while assembling/torquing the bolts.
I would recommend Loctite 243

Hi nu2,
I rang loctites research labs to ask a very simmular question. They told me that there is very little difference between 2701 and 270. They advised me that I could use either for the same application. I then rang BMW who advised me that If I was replacing my disc bolt, which I was, then 243 was the best option and that they use that grade themselves.
Cheers, cobbster

Hmmmm....think fleabuys the way I shall have to go. Just hoped to get the job done this weekend....hey ho I'll have to change the gearbox oil and the battery instead...and no before anyone asks, not change them for each other but fit new instead of old
or I could just go out for a ride instead
