Gear Jumping

Postby smiliebiker » Mon May 28, 2007 9:29 am

Hi all,

Bikes just clocked 10.5k - full service about 9k - seems since then the bike has occasionally (prob 3 times in 1.5k) jumped out of gear (as if into neutral) and then quickly re-engaged. This happens without much if any intervention from me and didn't occur prior to the service.

Any idea's as to whats going on appreciated!

Ken

Hi Ken,mine jumps out of gear from time to time, and in my case its been pilot error. I just haven't been positive enough with the shift and after a few seconds it'll jump back to neutral. I find it happens when i'm starting to feel tired, after a long ride or on the way home from work usually. But mine has never re-engaged again. I hope its not major fix for ya mate.

Yep, my S and my GS both do it occasionally - the GS sometimes goes 6-5-6 almost instantly without my intervention

You could try winding the gear lever down slightly at the adjuster just to give it a bit more movement on the up stroke
