So I picked up another R1100S (to replace my ride to work VFR750) last night.
When looking around the bike I noticed that the bars were above the top yoke and thought 'simple job for tomorrow' was to put then back under the yoke where they should be, as I had done with my last one....but.... on closer inspection it would appear that these are a different standard of bar.
The old ones had a location hole that bolted underneath the yoke. These have a tab the sits into a slot in the front of the top yoke?
So are there two different standards of bar for the 1100S?
If so has anyone a spare 'original' under the bar version, either for sale or swap with the over the bar version?
Or might I just have to get used to a higher bar position as the over the bar version doesn't seem to have the necessary clearance when under the bar......8u993r!

Sounds like you have Bmw comfort bars , I've the same , I tend to swop between above and below the yoke , haven't had problems so far .... since '04
Photo in this thread shows the location peg for when they're above the top yoke

Yup appears I have the comfort option, they are exactly as per your photos. Ta
I have found a pair of under yoke bars on eBay. Just a matter of being bothered to fit then, as the bike has heated grips.
Perhaps I'll see how comfortable they are for a while

Re: R1100S Handlebars....low and high standards?
Jez, the comfort bars are angled upwards as opposed to being straight as you might’ve spotted.
I got a pair a while ago on eBay because to buy new is over £300. Gulp!
