Think I’ve answered my own questions by using the search facility !
I have an Abba skylift but they advise against using it on the R1200s. When I rang them to ask why the guy said it was because the swinging arm is on the wrong side apparently.

there are a couple of these variants on the web. same company, this is for the twin cam 1200, no wing nuts? Does not look a faff?

try Ricambi Weiss - they do a rear paddock stand that goes through the rear wheel "hub". I ordered one and for some reason the red one was more expensive than the black

Only lifts the rear Dave, Beauty of the centre stand one is you can pivot both front and rear wheels in the air. Space is a premium for me i do not want any more kelter in my garage than i actually need.
