Hey All.
Currently riding a mate's 2010 R1200GS (following theft of my old Leadwing).
From everything seen on forums it seems John's chips are the answer to the maiden's prayer ... BUT ...
not for the R1200GS. Puzzled.
I thought I had read not only here, but also on other forums, high praise re the civilised performance improvement c/- fitting this chip.
After a long FB discussion tonight with John Gemi, it seems that an R1200GS chip does not exist.
Instead, what you get from John is a binary file that you have to load into your R1200 ECU. After first sending him your existing ECU file, that he will modify and return to you.
So - at the moment - totally effing confused.
Once John has modified one file to suit, then why can't he replicate this file for all R1200GS machines?
Now - for my money, John seems genuine enough.
So what am I missing?
What are the experiences of chipped R1200 owners on this forum?
Cheers.

Hey up, like you I do not own an R1200gs but in answer to your enquiry I think you will find www.ukgser the Holy Grail of all things GS.
Not wanting to open up a debate on how irrelevant I think these things are on modern bikes, I wish you good luck with this.
Chris.

Re: John Gemi R1200GS chips?
Sounds like you have to send him your ecu to reprogram - the R1100S has an eeprom chip in a socket that can be unplugged and I guess the GS does not.
Re: John Gemi R1200GS chips?
As Chris said, Lots of info on UKGSER, the GS has a flat spot that can be a bit annoying, people use a company called Hilltop to modify the ECU or you can fit AXfied units to the hexhead bikes, not sure about the LC.
