Hi,
I have got the dreaded rough running of a faulty stick coil.
My bike is an 2008 r1200s and has done 29000 miles.
I replaced one of the upper coils with a 2hd unit a few years ago.
I've bought a new upper coil (Chinese copy) from ebay I've changed it but still have the same intermittent rough running.
I haven't found a DIY way to test them other than running the engine with each unplugged at a time but as it is an intermittent problem it would still be difficult to diagnose the faulty coil.
I suspect that one of the lower coils is faulty.
My question is are the lower coils handed? Some are advertised on ebay as left or right handed others aren't.
Regards,
Jon

Re: Lower stick coils handed?
Yep, definitely handed! Helpfully, the ones I've seen have an 'L' or an 'R' alongside the part number on the base, just to make it easy! If you want to try a used one, I've got a spare right-hander in the garage, £23 delivered!
I always carry a spare main and one of each lower on the bike.

Jon,
Should you not find it to be the stick coils, there’s a few more possibilities covered in this recent thread that might help http://boxertrix.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23496 . Good luck!

Calling Jon.....calling Jon.....
I've not heard from you since you said you wanted the coil, and my last PM hasn't been read, so I'm assuming you no longer need it.
