Mine looks the worse for wear......seems to be no commercially available repair kit, but surely its just the seal?...
Anyone tried to repair one?

Re: Clutch Slave cylinder
Agree! This little note at Beemer Boneyard (for the master cyclinder rebuild kits) might account for it https://www.beemerboneyard.com/mamacykifr3.html . Also this listing for the slave cylinder at Motorworks BMW, notes BMW do not list a repair kit https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=5&NU=15&M=35&Ct=CA&SbCt=BA_15_35_CA_60 .

Re: Clutch Slave cylinder
I suspect the general consensus is that due to their location once they're damaged they're beyond just a seal.

Re: Clutch Slave cylinder
What bike ... R12S or R11S ? If the latter, seems there is a rebuild kit out there if you can be bothered https://www.beemerboneyard.com/21522335061rk.html.

Re: Clutch Slave cylinder
Drop beemerboneyard an email? All the US suppliers I have dealt with have been helpful & efficient, the only downer being freight and duty on importing spares - nb duty is on item cost plus postage...
When my slave went I just bought a replacement unit from Motorworks...
The real frustration with the USA is that you can buy literally anything there, unlike Europe. To the extent that I got spares for the wife's Pfaff sewing machine (made in Germany) from the States - nothing available this side of the pond at all. When I visited NYC regularly I'd buy stuff and get it sent to the office, and drag it home in the luggage.
Good luck anyway,
James

Re: Clutch Slave cylinder
Looking the worse for wear and not working are two different things. If it ain`t broke don't fix it.jota996 wrote:Mine looks the worse for wear......seems to be no commercially available repair kit, but surely its just the seal?...

Re: Clutch Slave cylinder
There is also another option for a repairing kit
http://boxer-upgrades.webs.com/apps/web ... ow/3818419
The cluch slave cylinder
if its the oem genuine bmw piece
can be pulled out by just unscrewing the three allen that keeps it in place.
There is no need to dismantle the bike .
If you decide to save some bucks and buy an aftermarket slave cylinder
from motorworks like i did
then have in mind that
the after market piece is just a few mm longer than the oem one and you l have to cut the bike in two to reinstall it !

Re: Clutch Slave cylinder
Decided the fastest easiest way was a good secondhand one from Motorworks......
Re: Clutch Slave cylinder
Might be a really stupid question but here goes anyway
which way round does the clutch push rod go..
I have installed the longer reduced end into the drive shaft an the smaller rounded end into the slave cylinder
just not getting much in the way of pressure on the lever when I bleed it....
look online and found line drawings showing both ways round!!!

Re: Clutch Slave cylinder
No help I'm afraid , i have replaced the slave cylinder a number of years ago but can't remember/ or I may not have removed the pushrod.
These pics suggest you are correct ?

Edit this one has a better pic at the end of the page

As for bleeding , what system are you using ? While pumping the lever I usually press the spring loaded ball in the adaptor until more fluid than air comes out , if not crack open the upper banjo there may be air stuck there . Tap the flexi pipe to encourage air to go up to the master cylinder , easier than trying to force air down. At that stage you should have a working clutch
