Hello. New to the group but not new to the R1200S. I am on my second one and I love these bikes.
However, I have a problem and need your help.
Can I ask how many of you have had a problem with the plastic headlight unit? In particular, the lugs that hold the bulb retaining clip breaking.
As I have said, this is my second R1200S. It happened to the first one and the whole unit was replaced under warranty.
I've owned this second one for just over a year now (warranty expired) and a headlight bulb blew this morning. When I tried to replace the bulb I found it had been GLUED IN by the previous owner!
Anyone else had problems with broken lugs on their plastic headlight unit?
Of two bikes I've had two failures. I need to collect evidence that this is a design fault. Otherwise this may cost me £360 + VAT to change a bulb!
Thanks in anticipation.

My R1100S has a similar problem with the 3 little lugs in the headlight shell.
However, I have attached mine with Evo Stick contact adhesive , so I can remove and replace the bulb easily .

Me too with the glued headlamp. I found it early last year but haven't done anything about it yet. We are not alone either.

Thanks for your replies.
It's sad but I guess that, if I can get the blown bulb out, I will have to glue the replacement in. I wonder if there is a type of glue that is a little less permanent; so that I can change the bulb again in future.
It would be handy to know which headlamp units are identical to the R1200S. Can anyone tell me?

That is why I use Evo Stick contact , rubbery , and easy to get off.

The headlight from a K1200 R Sport is the same
There was a one for sale in the "For Sale" section (surprise surprise) a while back which may still be for sale - at least you can search for another unit as opposed to being limited to ar1200s unit
