Two questions for you, fellas.
I've a slight creak on compression of the rear suspension - a bit like a creaky wooden chair (and a dry bottom pivot bolt on the rear suspension of a 5/7 series car). It's at the back of the paralever.
Is it likely to be one or both of the two large pivot pins at the rubber boot, or something else? And can whatever it is be lubricated in situ - at least as a forlorn hope before a strip-down proves to be the only way to eliminate it (and properly lubricate the two creaking and wearing surfaces.
Second, I have no lambda/O2 sensor. My decat pipe has the boss but just a blanking plug. The engine runs well without - the same as a bike with one (I've compared them myself). And fuel consumption seems similar.
Do these bikes typically run without or is mine a weirdo?

Paralever bearings...where the rear end pivots on the swing arm. Next time mine need replacing Ill put these in.

Paralever bearings / O2 sensor
Thanks for that info.
The plain bush with grease nipple would seem to have been a possible way for BMW to have designed the paralever bearing in the first place (1998 R80/100 GS) but presumably they had good reason to use the needle roller solution.
Perhaps the needle rollers are longer lasting, maintenance free and reliable - mine have lasted 80K already.
And so far as the O2 sensor is concerned, I was given a clue from the previous owner that there were changes made to the efi system before his ownership. I was told "bigger" injectors - but mine are the same as standard(externally at least). I'll check the 'chip' when I'm next doing the air filter.
