has anyone got any recommendations for PC for the R1100S ?
I'm reading that PC3 has big holes in the mapping, PCV not suitable ... I'm guessing someone has the answers?

Power Commander for R1100S ?
"if at first you don't succeed - you've already been a failure once"
There is a French vendor of the PC3 (there is a link on this site, within last week)
I'm not aware of a "hole in the mapping" on them - can you explain more?
As far as I'm aware - they haven't made a PC5 for the 1100s

HerrFlick .......choobs ?????? I'm new to Oilheads.
Bike has [ is getting ] Y pipe, freeflow silencer and K&N style filter pods.
The "holes" in the mapping is just what I have read - I'm no expert on electronics !

I don't know of any 'holes' in the mapping on the PC3. The whole job of the Commander is to get rid of those things.
I have a PC3 Wide band on the mine, coupled with a custom-map created by a tuner that I trust.
It solved the problem it was bought for and works a charm. But be clear on this - The custom map is that bit that makes the difference, the PC is the tool that enables those changes. Ready mapped chips, rapid bike boxes and the like are fine but will have mappings created, at best, on another R11S on a dyno by a tch who may have been looking to improve a different aspect of his engine than what you would like. At worst, it may well have a random collection of value configured that may have been lifted from a different engine altogether.
And as for the air flow foolery, don get me started.
Use the Dynojet website to find a dealer and call them up. The can work wonders. Mine is great, the one Gus used is good too. I don't know any of the others.
Both Gus's R11 build and one are on the forum for more details...

Hi Beachcomber,
The Choobs are 1100/1150 GS intake tubes, fitted to 'S'.
See 'Intake Ramtubes'. Includes dyno results
Make a stonking difference from 2000 to 5500 rpm with no loss of top end.
Only non-stock item on my S is the intake snorkel: a Lennies Induct.
They cost abt 30 quid from a wreckers and abt an hour to fit (mostly removing bodywork).
All the K&N is good for is K&N's profits. It keeps out the big rocks and does nothing for performance. I use a stock paper filter.
I make mention only because the choobs may save you lots of $$$ and I think give the best bang-for-buck for the 'S'.
Cheers.
Real torque curves don't have a first derivative. :-^)

Thanx for the positive responses.
HF - understand "choobs" now ! However [ re: K&N - generic ] pods, we have no choice but to change air intake route as the space normally occupied by the air filter housing and all that squitter is now taken up with a fuel reservoir !
I haven't contributed to K&N's huge profits for the past 25 years or so [ cars and bikes ] - plenty of cheaper alternatives, especially with todays' Chinese products at a fraction of the price. We recently did a back to back test with our Yamaha Virago Cafe Racer engine fitted with K&Ns and also generic Chinese units ........ absolutely NO difference [ on the dyno ]. Only difference in the real World was a cash saving of 75%. We have plenty of experience in this area [ albeit cars ] squeezing various V8 engines into Cobra and C Type Jag replicas.
However, pods aren't the definitive answer - and we'll be looking at an alternative pick up point / system for the air intake down the line.
Thanx for the headsup on the "Intake RamTubes" posts - that's some impressive improvement ! BTW - no problem with bodywork - there isn't any ! [ not there at least ]
Again - re: " holes in mapping " - only what I read on Oilhead forums
It seems that there are still some NOS PC 3s doing the rounds [ thanx Blackal ]. I've found a guy in Bromsgrove [ Hamish ? ] who reckons he can set the bikes up and map them to our satisfaction.
Sincere thanx for the feedback - accelerating my learning curve !
Here's one of my old cars where "air intake" wasn't a problem - 502ci Ford V8 + 3 stage NOS.
And here's the tight squeeze V8 in Jag C Type [ poc mule ]
