Hi
Engine wise, anything apart from supercharging or turbocharging.
Chassis wise, anything you want.

Are there many options out there for road going 1200s motor tuning?

Hi Paul
Depends on how far you want to go with it (or how deep are your pockets). For the road I found a full decent exhaust system, piper x air filter and a decent fuel controller (rapid box / power commander ) or a ecu map reflash(rexer) was enough to make the bike nice to ride and quick enough.
Lighter pistons and rods will give good engine response and also give the big ends a easier time if your exploring the upper rev range a lot. There is more that can be done but you then need to change a lot of other things to make the bike reliable. These mods would only be viable if your racing and need a more powerful bike to better your times.

The piper x air filter I've never heard of, obviously you rate them higher than the K&N

Hi
It's a foam filter which was recommended to me. I don't know if it better than the K&N though.

Hi Gus,

this looks terrible! Seems to be one of the valves ripped off (common thing) and caused all that mess. To my knowledge the R1200R/GS blocks are the same as the S block. Same goes with the cylinders. Only the heads are different (and very difficult to get). But I believe its possible to take GS heads and re-machine them to take the 12S valves and to fit on the exhaust side.

Concerning big-bore you have several options. Cheapest would be to buy conrods, pistons and head-gaskets from Woessner (will cost around 1200 euros). Find yourself a shop capable of boring and coating your cylinders (must be a specialist though!). That should be in the range of 800 Euros. Put the pieces together yourself if you can. The ECU must be reprogrammed (rexxer) or powercommander installed. You will then be in the range of 140+ HP and it is highly recommended that the oil supply be modified (oil-pump mod and oil cooler taken off the HP2S).

My 12S with untouched engine (only piper-x, HP2S headers, Zard exhaust, re-programmed ECU (Rexxer) delivers 137 HP and 124 NM. With bigbore that should easily come to +140 HP and +135 NM.

Hi
It isn't at the moment...........
Awaiting a couple of options. I will be fitting a new engine over the autumn/winter ready for next season. I need to do more homework regarding spec.

Hi
My thinking is that a valve dropped also. Big big mess.......
I have been doing my research on how to build a powerful engine over the last couple of years and have met the guru last year.......
Thanks for the info anyway. It's appreciated.

Hi
That's what happens when you have a nice paint job on a race bike!!!
Seriously though, glad you are unhurt. The bike can be fixed, you may need a few Ty wraps as well as duct tape though.
Where on track did you fall?
PM me if you need help with parts, I may be able to sort you out with a few contacts.
All the best

Dead right it was looking too pretty....lol
It happened coming out of hayshed T8 and heading into lukey heights T9.

The big ticket items I need:
1. Rear swing arm
2. HP Instrument cluster

I've ordered some more fibreglass, I think the exhaust can be repaired and as long as the frame is not bent and the engine still runs I should be good to go.
It was my fault, the bike was actually flying and I was in the 1.49's just got a bit ambitious through Lukey.
