Off to France tomorrow. I'm taking the R1100 to register it in France - no MOT's for bikes (bad) - no tax (good)!
Realised the MOT had expired by a week. So couldn't tax the bike. Went for an MOT and the DVLA computer hung up for an hour and a half - 18,000 MOT stations, cars and bikes, couldn't operate - its called technology. Eventually got it done, needed a new front tyre (advisory) but as they are expensive in France I went to put one on. BMW dealer (Wollaston) quoted £150 !!!! Yamaha dealer, Bridgestone 020 £75 including VAT, done on the spot. BMW - V!
I didn't realise the max bhp in France is 100. My bog standard R1100ss at 98 just qualifies - did BMW work that to sell in France?

The maximum here in France is not exactly 100bhp, it is measured in Kw and works out to about 106bhp.
Make sure that you get a certificate of conformity from BMW UK before you leave as it will cost nothing from them and if you decide to get one from BMW France you will not only pay for it but have to have a dealer adjust the light and change the speedo.
I know because I have imported two 1100S's here.
