My mate came round last Saturday at 8:00 so we could zip down the Ace for grease and look for a bike for him - he's besotted by the 748s. I've told him the pots are in the wrong place but he's all emotional.
Trouble is Dukes are usually accompanied in dealers by MV's...and I like the Brutale...be interested in feedback if anyone's ridden one?
Anyroadup, we get the pride and joy out of the cosy garage and on the road, we're all kitted up, hop on and go to start her up............. it turned over a coupla times grumbling and then said no.
Bit suprising as I'd had it out for an MOT and a run on the Monday
Put it on charge for half hour.....still the same
Again for an hour .............. still the same
Then I realised that when I'd gone to start it in the morning I'd put the key in and turned it to On, then when I'd flipped the kill it the pump had primed - all without me having to key the alarm immobiliser!
Bollocks, I thought. Pushed it back to the garage to scratch me 'ead
The alarm is a Meta M357 TV2 and I'd had no previous issues.
After loads of interweb crawling (not all porn apparently) I found out that the alarm had gone into sleep mode and so I tried all the various forum recommendations to wake it up to no avail.
The definitive fix (other than get a Meta alarm fitter out) is to remove the two fuses from the alarm to drain the internal battery.
So off comes the tupperware, off the lennies, lift the tank.
Could I find anything that looked vaguely like a fuse attached in any of the jumble of wiring that may or may not have been associated with the alarm.
Bugger this I thought and disconnected the bike battery.
Put it back on today and she fired up first time.
Bloody alarm!!
Bloody Alarm!!
