I used to think that the new Guzzis were a viable alternative to the sports BMWs but then you look at the BMW luggage systems and think............................. Naaaaw!

A fella at work has got the newest 750 Guzzi and it is put together really nicely. Time will tell but Guzzi seem to be getting to grips with their quality issues to the point where they might become a viable alternative to BMW whose bikes, sadly, are not built to the standard that they once were.

This situation is mirrored in the four wheel world where German cars trade on an image of peerless build quality that dates back a few years to when Mercs and Audis etc were seen as bullet proof. However the owners of the current crop of these marques are finding that they are beset with all sorts of niggles and reliability issues. Alfa Romeo on the other hand, slated for years as unreliable, poorly built, rust prone etc have made a major investment to improve quality and are challenging the Germans on their own ground.

If one of the Guzzi Griso spin offs has a little sports fairing I might just be tempted.

Woof's right re Guzzi build quality - Paul & I did a bit of research (you see the lengths us mods go to to keep the Boxertrix Massive happy?) earlier this year, getting dems on the Breva 11 and Griso. Corsa Italiana's Breva had done nearly 10k miles as the workshop hack/demo, most of it over the winter. The only dulling of its shine was discoloured downpipes. No rust, no furred bolts, and running like a Swiss watch.

The new 1200 Sport also appeals greatly. And it takes hard luggage.

Have to say I'm very glad to see that Guzzi have developed their own Paralever rear system for that single sided "thang", now if they could just get a Telelever system sorted out....

I think the 1200Sport would definitely be on the cards if my Rockster ever died/disappeared.

As much as try i just can't bring myself to like it. Those exhausts are plain ugly from the back and I am not sure about the 'scaffolding poles' running through the petrol tank! In addition, have you noticed they always seem to show images of the bike from the left side thereby hiding that huge, 'I don't know what it is' black box thing on the right side.
Have you also noticed how far out the right foot peg is relative to the left. Does this translate when sitting on the bike???

That said, I generally like Guzzis (my brother has a Breva and Mk 1 Le Mans) and the Breva looks really well put together.

Looking forward to seeing the new 'sport' in the flesh.

We had a look at the Guzzi offerings last weekend at the Sydney show. Nikk was impressed with the first Griso images, just as she was seeing it in the flesh, but not so with the weight and it's distribution - too top heavy in her opinion.
Still it is an impressive looking machine, exhaust notwithstanding.

And just 2kgs (227 v 229) and AU$2K difference between the 850 and 1200 version.... hmmm...
