FYI:
For anyone who frequents the City of London square mile .... today I saw a brand new unmarked grey R1200RS being used by City Of London Police in the London Wall area for speed violation patrol. Bike is fitted with skinny city side cases.
The square mile has a (STRICT) blanket 20mph enforcement. City Police traffic unit are based on Wood Street just off London Wall. You will often see radar/speed traps in this area. Be aware!!

I believe speed limits only apply to motor vehicles, making pedal bikes exempt....

Exempt speed limits per se, but stitched up nicely by Section 28 - 30 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (as amended by the Road Traffic Act 1991) -

"it is an offence to ride recklessly on a road or in a dangerous, careless or inconsiderate manner". :)

Get 'em ticketed!

.....for the benefit of anyone reading this who doesn't understand the use of smilies, or otherwise wants to jump in and make an arse of themselves, its meant to be tongue-in-cheek. You know who you are....
