Rode over to Rotherham today and had a look at the 2006 R1200S advertised on E Bay, it's at a BMW dealers there. The bike has 18000 miles and appears to be in very nice condition, no engine paint flaking, no marks on fairing, very clean condition over all with almost new tires, It was priced at 6495 quid.
Two questions , what is a reasonable market price for the bike and what is your best guess as to what the dealer would accept cash in hand with no trade in, Your comments please.

Eeek! That's a bit "adventurous"?
Have a look at others on Ebay just now - they are a lot more realistically priced, methinks.

One question, is which version of the 12S is it? That's to say does it wear Ohlins and the 6" rear rim for the big tyre?
Personally, £6.5k is very steep - it's probably worth £1k less than that imho.
Wait until the winter weather turns to ratsh*t and then go in and wave £5.5k under their noses

Hi
I'd say that is top-top money, nice looking bike in good condition, 18k miles is really nothing on one of these, but if your trying to sell to a dealer then it's loads, on this you can't win!
Sports pack, 6"rim, seat cowl are all desirable, but if you want to add a silencer then that's in the region of £600 +, not to mention other trinkets and farkles.
If you have no trade in and it's cash sometimes there's not a deal to be had cause they can't make from your old bike or from a finance package, but an offer of maybe £500 or more off the asking price wouldn't be unreasonable, they may want to just get it out of the showroom. What warranty does it have?
My 12s was 18months old when I purchased it from Ocean in Plymouth with 250 miles on the clock and the balance of manufactures warranty, I paid 7.5K 6 years ago, if that helps you value this one.
Ultimately how much you willing to pay is up to you but if you were to keep it for 4-5-6 years then you could call it good value.
It is a good bike and there are many on this board who have kept there's for many years with no intention of selling, even if the new RS looks good, the other thing worth mentioning is the amount left on the road which is approx 275 with a few on sorn so it's a very exclusive bike and getting rarer year on year.
Good luck and if you buy I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

To revisit this............
There have been some "cheap" R1200s advertised on here in the last year - have a look through them........
There is no reason to think that it won't be repeated.
Defo go for the Sportspack, and don't bother about colour - just get the right bike, at the right price.
(The custard yellow will respray

I'd wave 4k under their nose. I paid £5.5k for mine in 08 from Pidcicks BMW.

You'll get 12months BMW warranty with it, that's £350 worth...
I payed £5999 for mine 3years ago, with 6k on it. That was from a non BMW dealer in Sheffield.

Okay - 40,000m and some cosmetic work required..........

Says it has full maintenance.
But - the price could allow for some TLC over the winter - and end up with a good-un?
You could sell on the Akra can to fund the TLC.
Certainly distinctive.

Thanks for all your reply's, it did have the 6" rear rim and upgraded suspension. Like you, I thought it was a bit over priced but I do like them so will keep looking including those listed on this site, this bike was just close and I did enjoy the ride out.

Good news for all us owners - they are going up in price !!!
Bild, they are great bikes ( Especially yellow
) and if you think you will like one - you will love it.
I paid a £1k less than that twelve months ago for a 9000 mile bike with Akra exhaust, Ilmberger bellypan, non ABS, brand new tyres and delivered from pop North to the South Coast. Very good value at that money in my book. As far a warranty I think there is very little to go wrong ( unlike a K1200 or K1300
)
