Many years ago Bell Helmets used the advertising tagline of "if you have a $10 head wear a $10 helmet" ..... but surely there's a limit ... apparently not ... £2300 for a helmet .... jeeze is it lined with kittens too!!!

I have the BMW Sport Integrale Carbon..........900gm instead of around 1400gm for an RX7/X-Spirit.

You don't even know you're wearing a helmet - and it seems to make a big difference when you are on hols doing 2wks riding.

There are a few makers doing them now.

Great looking helmet and spec, given its an Arai the quality is sure to be there. But wow the price....i can see in rolling off the seat...and the tears to follow.
I must say weight or lack of it will play a larger (than the past) in choosing my next lid.

Al the £700 I have "invested" in the system 6 with bluetooth made my bottom lip quiver! I've tried the BMW carbon helmet and it was very light and nice and appreciably cheaper than the arai one.

I must admit I'm not a big CF weave fan. I like my lids to be white (or in the case of the Sys 6 lid as light as poss)

If I had a spare £2300 I'd be looking at upgrading the F650 to an F650GS rather than a lid I'm all "lidded" up with the BMW Sports Integral, System 6, Shoei XR1000 and some enduro lid ... oh and an open face for those odd summer bimbling days

My CF helmet only cost around £350 delivered (BNIB), but there are ones cheaper than the BMW (HJC and Bell, I think).

£350 is as much as I have ever paid for a helmet - I like my bargains

Sys 6 is a good helmet - not having the nose-heavy characteristics of previous flip-fronts.

Well; I need a brain bucket that is a) QUITE and b) dosn't mist up. I see Schuberth have just anounced an upgraded 'C3' so I think that'll be what I'll be getting next. £500.00 for a hat does seem a lot of dosh though to a bloke that has spent most of his biking life in a cheap old jacket and jeans. Just thinking about it however, I do remember, back in '71 paying 70 quid (What's that in todays money? I wonder.) for one of the first 'Full-Face' Bells to be sold in this country. This was when full-face helmets were an American novelty and all my mates said they would never catch on. How wrong can you be?

Well I was on 50p per hour in the mid 70's so if current min wage is what, £6 ish? Then £70 would have been 140 hours pay so 6*140 so about £840 ish?

£840, Good Grief Multiply everything by 11 or 12 then eh Steve? Sounds about right. I remember paying £12.00 for a blank Sony Betamax video tape 'bout the same time. That'd be over 130 quid at todays prices then. For months, the one tape was all we had and my kids recorded over and over again on it. I chucked a load of 'em ( kids not tapes :lol: ) in the skip last spring. Oh yes, and in February 1970, I recall I paid Bill Smith Motors(Chester) £870.00 in £1.00 notes for a brand new CB750. Another thing (4 cylinder motorbikes) my mates recond was too complex to catch on.

Probably going to pick up a second passenger who's a bit 'picky' about headgear.
