The engine is a beast. Just when you think that the engine is about to hit the limiter there is another 2k revs available, a top end powerband and the front comes up. It soooooo smooth compared to the boxer engine.

Yes, the TL engine is one aspect the R1200S cannot really match.

I was swaying towards selling it but I think I'm now leaning towards keeping it :?

I sold my TL and bought an R1100S. While I don't regret my decision, I do miss the old TL.

However, the majority of the miles I was doing was put in on a few longish trips 2 up, with the missus on the back, and the TL, while perfectly capable of racking up the miles, wasn't necessarily the most relaxed tourer in the world, especially for the young lady.

Shot below is on the way back from the Italian Moto GP in Mugello, luggaged up. I think this was about day 9 of our trip, at the top of some Swiss alpine pass. The eagle eyed among you may notice that the tyres aren't looking super fresh at this point....

And again, all clean, with new rubber, ready for being sold

For 2-up work, the S is much better, but I miss the TL for it's hairy power and flighty handling. Had I the space, I would have kept the TL for track days and general hooning, and probably done some power mods which have already been mentioned.

I suppose the R1200S is a fair bit sportier than the 11, so I might not miss the TL so much had I got one of them.

However, as I spend 90% of my time abroad at the moment, with my bikes in a garage back in the UK, 2 is already 2 more than I get to use :(

I will get another one day :D

Cheers, Rich (currently in Brazil)
