Site stability poll

Postby Paul » Thu Apr 04, 2024 10:17 am

Folks,

I have been investigating behind the scenes why we have been having these "SQL Gone away" error messages when trying to access the site. I have made some configuration changes and it appears to me that the site is running a lot more reliably than before. Can you please answer the poll question in this post so I can get a feeling for whether the changes are working for you too. Think of your experience of using the site in the past week when answering the question.

Many thanks,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Up until today I couldn't get on at all.

By the way - are you aware that the SSL certificate is invalid?

Thanks RiceBurner, I'll look into the SSL certificate issue with our hosting provider

Just for reference, while I had access on Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday (yesterday) I had the db errors all day.

Now I've read the question properly :D I'd be tempted to upgrade my response to 'all good' from 'some errors'! Seems to be working fine atm. J

Paul, thanks for your work on this, I too was almost in the 'hey its fixed now' camp but as Riceburner I got the dreaded error whilst trying to to open this post yesterday.

Following BlackAl’s tip I deleted the site cookies by clicking the 3 lines in the bottom right of the page and tap delete all board cookies, straight away the error message was less and I haven’t had it since before the poll fingers crossed

Had the issue yesterday.

Just deleted the board cookies (see above), logged back in, and will see if that improves things.
