Could take bike and park outside zone and walk a mile in all my gear I suppose?
Don't fancy that

Your 11s will be compliant, because mine is. All you need is the letter off BMW.

Send a scan of your v5c to eccoc@bmw.co.uk asking for your emission information specifically nox emission info. With any luck you'll get an email back telling you the level of nox which you can use as evidence to gain an exemption. You do NOT need a certificate of conformity, the letter from BMW will suffice.

Pete.

Sent details to BMW and have had letter back FOC, have forwarded it to TFL. Waiting to hear back [smilie=dance guy.gif]

Thanks so much Pete, hopefully its a positive reply as the emissions are well below the required amount.

TFL.....they say YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have to pay so thanks again Pete

Has anyone had their old bike tested?

Here's the response I received from eccoc@bmw.co.uk re my 1999 R1100S

' ... Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your e-mail. Unfortunately, due to the age of the vehicle, there is no technical information available (including emissions) in our systems. It is with regret we cannot be of greater assistance.
Kind regards, The Homologation Team
... '

I'll give them a 'D' for effort. Perhaps they could have tried a little bit harder!
I'm sure they must have some info as it is fitted with a 'cat' and there surely must be an emissions comparison between the single and twin spark plug heads.

Anyone had ULEZ approval with a single spark plug head?

Hmm, I've just got my 2001 1150GS single spark sorted with literally no problems.

Proper letter from BMW saying it's Euro1 compliant and emits 0.03g/km NOx, scanned and forwarded to TFL via their web link, scan back from TFL saying fine and they'll update their records.

Stunned to be honest; there must be a catch somewhere.

Julian, I'm surprised your 1999 bike has no homologation records at BMW, although I guess there has to have been a date from which they set them up.

Maybe a polite email back to them or call just to check when the cut-in was?

J

Hi there ... I just entered about 25 number plates from R1100 / R1150 up to 2005 into the TFL ULEZ system.
None of them were compliant and all subject to the ULEZ charge.
So it seems the random cut-off is based on age.

If anyone who was successful with BMW would be so kind to share their compliance letter I'll have another go applying to BMW / TFL

Cheers

The ULEZ system will automatically make any pre-2007 non-compliant until they get evidence that it isn't then the database is updated on a per-bike basis, so it's not surprising that the ones you checked were not.

BTW from what I can gather that place that nab301 linked to manage to get most of the bikes they test passed, even carbed ones. Might be worthwhile having a look.
