EG/ABE street homologation
Just wondering if anyone knows what ''EG/ABE street homologation'' means?
Looking at a hugger from Hornig and they have two versions, one street use and the other for track only. I’ve contacted Hornig and they say the two are very similar in quality but the track one does not have EG/ABE street homologation. The track one is 50 euro cheaper…
Is it worth the risk?

ABE in full is Die Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis
The general operating permit (ABE)
The ABE is delivered mostly in easily assembled tuning parts as alloy wheels with the same diameter as that registered in the registration document for standard tires.
So that these parts can be mounted on the ABE type of vehicle and may not thereafter be examined by vehicle control. However, the ABE-papers must be kept on board.
Here, there are also exceptions, sometimes a modification acceptance must be carried out immediately. This is, for example, the case when it concerns about the freedom of movement or wheel covers are made by placing a wider rim with other offset despite standard tires.
E-Approved
The E-mark indicates that the corresponding technical component has been approved in the EU
This ABE is a German thing I guess. Unless you are planning on taking a trip in Germany, I'd go for the cheaper track version

Normally the track stuff isn't finished to the same standard - the road stuff is shiny and looks nice the track stuff is just lighter - or that's my understanding. I did read it on an accessories web site but I cannot remember which site

Track versions, I suspect will not have side stand cut outs. They are designed to resist oil spills and not pee them out all over the track. Other than that I dunno. anything that is too good to be true generally is.
