The Sandbar HP2 Sport in MCN
In September MCN track tested my bike at Silverstone with a view to an article in the future.
I have been away for a few weeks so I only got the current MCN yesterday. It would seem that the bike will be in an article in the next edition - 2nd/3rd January.
The hook that they were looking for is the imminent demise of air-cooled large bikes.
The article, which was unfortunately cut from 4 to 3 pages, is mentioned in the preview on page 27 of the current MCN under the tag lines:
'Britain's best air-cooled bike'
'Like a carbon fibre Spitfire'
'Riding the ultimate BMW HP2, air-cooling's ultimate offering'
I think that there is a lot of hyperbole there, and they may be referring to the HP2 Sport in general rather than my bike, but let's see next week!!

So am I!!
The original premise was just two HP2 Sport owners doing a track day, but when I sent him the pictures of the new M-Sport colour scheme, the idea of doing an article around my bike was suggested.
In some ways it was very satisfying having somebody with vastly greater experience than me passing positive opinions about the modifications that I have done. It was also very interesting watching my bike more than holding its own in the fast group!
I don't think that the article is completely about my bike, but just having it used as an example in the theme about the demise of air-cooled large bikes.

A couple of pictures taken the day the new colour scheme was fitted.
These also go to show that there was actually sunshine this year!! The colour balance on my camera is not right and the very bright sunshine made the red look too red - it is actually an orangey red.
I have promised not to use any of the MCN pictures until the article is published, but I will when it is!!

That paint scheme looks fantastic!
I'm jealous!
Cheers
Thanks! Those pictures are pretty rubbish - just wait until you see the MCN ones. Once they have published the article, I will put a couple on here.

I can't remember why the hugger was not on that day, but it was certainly in place for the Silverstone event - as it usually is.

The article looks like it is going to be a bit OTT!
