Could be some truth in that - although my bike's a relatively *peaky IL4. :D

*Not peaky in the truest sense, but it does get significantly more urgent when north of 7000rpm. :)

We've had our Mk1 Fabia for about 5 years and it has been pretty reliable. Just had to sort out a problem with the power steering, which I hope I have fixed now with a replacement pump. Otherwise it has been great. I like driving it - got a few gadgets but generally simple fare. Pretty good handling, great visibility, comfy - just needs a bit more power.

I've driven the later Fabia and thought it was like looking through a letterbox; the screen was narrow and a long way away. I've also driven the Roomster, which was overall similar but noisy. I had an Octy petrol turbo that was a great all rounder and also reliable. I would certainly look at Skodas in the future if I was looking for another private car.

I think you made a good choice.

Just picked up our Fabia this afternoon, had an hour or so's pootle (well I'm hardly going to say 'went for a thrash' ;) ) around in it and it's one really sweet little car. Despite its very lowly 70bhp motor, it's perfectly easy to make decent progress. Sure, overtaking could be a bit of a lottery at times, but the motor has plenty of torque and holds its speed on inclines a darn sight better than our 107 which, whilst fun, really needs the spuds caning off it to get it going.

Feels very solidly put together too...and has a very acceptable stereo. 8)

Nous sommes happy bunnies chez Gromit. :)
