Hi all!
My name is richphela (rich as in experience not in cash unfortunately).
I've seen a r1100s '99 and 32000 on the clock, what do you think about it?
It looks the biz in iridescent green and it's around £1250 .
Shall I go for it?
Wow I wish I had it right now with fantastic weather were having!
I look forward to meeting you all very soon! :D

Hi richphela,

Welcome on board! Good luck with your hunt for an R1100S. 32k miles on the clock is not a problem for these bikes, but you need to dig deep to determine how well it's been looked after in recent years. Lime green was not a colour that BMW produced so it's been re-sprayed in it's life. I'd look for any tell tell signs of damage to see if it's been crashed in it's past life. Try taking the seat off and checking that the fairing mounting points don't look like they have been damaged.

best of luck,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

As Paul says , check the fairing mounts but more importantly the sub frame mounts are a known weak point . Other than that , realistically it's just like any other 22 year old bike .. it could end up as a money pit . Check out for any unusual engine noises, are the transmission / clutch/ clutch hydraulics ok , brake calipers seized ?, shock absorbers? does it have ABS brakes , rubber petrol lines, in tank and external may be deteriorating.
My 11S is the same year with 125k + miles recorded. an excellent bike not used much lately but with some electrical ( wiring harness related ) problems of late .
If you can do your own maintenance and the bike is basically mechanically sound , it could be the start of a beautiful relationship but as always buyer beware.
