I've dropped the guy in Wales a line with some questions ... FlyBe to Cardiff and ride home might well be a plan ....

To cut a long story short, despite flinging myself from my mountain bike last weekend and scuffing and taking lumps out of my knees and elbows, opening up my chin having a chest that looks like I've been used for kick boxing practice ... I ended up heading for Wales last Tuesday (flight from Glasgow only delayed by nearly four hours ...) and picked up the R1100S I had bought. I rode it back up through mid Wales (stunning roads and scenery and perfect for getting to know the new bike on) and then slogged my merry way from Chester back up towards deepest darkest Lanarkshire, putting the bike in the garage after leaving home a mere 18 hours previously.

Summary so far?
    Don't set off in 28C temperatures with the heated grips on - it doesn't help.
    I don't know if this bike has been lowered in some way, but the seat is very much closer to the deck than I expected. When on the centre stand, there's not that much clearance from the base of the rear wheel to the floor. Result? There's not as much room between pegs and seat as I expected.
    It loves swinging bends - absolutely one of the sweetest swinging bikes I've had the pleasure of riding.
    It's not so happy moving through heavy town traffic ... what is the tick-over meant to be on this? (No owner's manual with the bike ....)
    When cruising on A-roads or Motorways it thrums along superbly.
    I really do like it! :D

Glad you like the bike !
The seat is quite low on the R1100s , some (incl me in recent years ) have remodelled
the seat and fitted lowered pegs ... :oops:
Idle should be around 1050 rpm when warm, and servicing/balancing the throttle bodies may improve the low speed performance.
