Seeing the light?

Postby Spud » Thu Jun 27, 2013 7:21 am

Hi all,
I'm from Norn Iron who's been living in Scotland for nigh on 24 years ... so I'm an alien on both sides of the "shough".

I originally joined many years ago when looking to change from a Trumpet but ended up on ... another Trumpet. I'm now that much older, greyer (correction - make that prematurely white) but not necessarily endowed with any more common sense.

Anyway, long story short is that there's a gap in the garage where I think an R1100S would be well suited. I'll admit that I've lurked for far too long - but the search tools are great and any questions I have had are already in the "been asked" pile, and well answered.

I only rode one once for about 60 miles and did enjoy the way it hustled along on the A/B-roads around here. I also need something for occasional 2-up duties so I'm after a good one.

I noticed these two on a well known classified site and wondered if they belonged to folks on here?

Condition and evidence of care in ownership are more important to me than age or mileage. I hate to say it, but colour plays a part too .....

Anyway, hopefully my search is a fruitful one and I can look forward to learning lots more.
Cheers,
Spud.

Hi and welcome.

You could save yourself some cash and have a look at what's on offer in the for sale forum.

There look to be at least 3 for sale recently at a range of prices.

Thank you all, and at least no one has said which colour is faster .. .although I suspect the air and exhaust mods to the red one will make it sound faster if nothing else! :D

conkerman, I will indeed take another look. If I can get rail or air travel close to the bike, then riding it home from wherever is always an option - or up to 3-4 hours by car is on the cards. As I said, I'm after as good a bike as I can find and these are still in budget - although the red one has the edge there for sure. I thought I saw a boxertrix logo on one of the pictures of that bike so that's why I enquired if it was known on here.

I'll give them both a call at the weekend when home and see what happens.
But I'll admit I've always had a soft spot for that blue ... which was actually the colour I test rode.

If the budget can stretch to it there is an 1150 R110s for sale. Just shy of £4000.

I must be going blind because I don't see that in the For Sale section ... but is it a R1150R or an R1100S that has been "upped" to an 1150?
Confused of Lanarkshire. :?

That's certainly an "interesting" bike. Being a pedant ... how the heck do you get that past an insurance company .... oh hang on, I think I might know ....

Fair point well made. Hence my intrigue when I saw the Boxertrix sticker on one of those two ... but it does look like I've missed a couple of beauties in the last month or two.

Just to add an observation,

My experience with bikes is that you are best not restricting yourself on distance to view.

My R1100 was from Edinburgh and I am near Oxford.

Just saying like :)
