Welcome from up north
I would be wary about the modulator needing replacement I read in the BMW Owner's Club magazine (I know Steve - bad language!!) where a guy was told the same and it was going to cost £1400 to replace and an independent BM mechanic reset the fault code and all was well. Apparently it was caused because of a voltage drop because the bike hadn't been used for a while. This was on a non servo 1150 GS but it may well be the same reason for your problem?

i am down in paignton everyone on here and everywhere else says it is voltage problems it was james sherlocks up in north devon a independent bmw garage that told me it was the modulater does anyone know anywhere in devon i could take it to get the fault reset, i toke my rs to ocean bmw when it had a rattle they told me the mechanic had 25 years experiance it was definatly the cam chain tensioner and charged me as such and it didn't make any difference, but i have solved that now
I work in Newton Abbot and several of us from work occaisionally frequent Paignton on bike nights, I will pm you if/when we do, if you are around.

yes pm me if you are heading down,
hi popsky i was up your way last month we were camping at woolicombe one of the best rides in a long time the road from there to minehead good weekend except for busting my clutch,
i went on the mag run last sunday first time out since the clutch was done she worked a treat and since changing my gearbox oil to gl5 she was smooth as anything in the gear change
but i got vibrations that i never had before i was reading on here that incorrect throttle syncronisation could be at fault so i think i will book her in at ocean
unless anyone else has any suggestions

That could also explain the knock rattle from the right hand side
Worn throttle bodies produce a knock that almost sounds like a small end that has gone west it took me some tine to realise that if it was a engine knock it would sound like it came from the centre not from the side
Dan from here http://boxer-upgrades.webs.com/apps/webstore/ does the repair kits for $60us for each side and is a nice fella to deal with
To check put ear close to throttle body listen for rattle if it stops when you place a finger behind throttle body on to cable cam centre you have found the problem
Hope this helps Dai

ABS Lights
Hi there - just for info, I had the flashing lights on my R1100s and was told it was either voltage or low fluid. I took a deep breath and took it to Dick Lovetts in Brizzle - turned out to be a slightly out of alignment wheel sensor, which they banged straight, cleared out the fault codes - job done
Not expensive and they were really helpful - hth
cheers
