Got an R1100S and wanted something bit more touring friendly for 2 up to Europe.
So , rode this R1200ST today with my lady on pillion, nice bike, bit of judder on front when braking heavily, but she loved the bike apart from really bad vibration from the LH pillion footrest, seemed to be most of the time too.
I know there are a few on here with same bike, so question is, are they all the same? If not, any ideas? Throttle balancing perhaps? Loose exhaust?
No jokes please about the looks, you can't see the front when you ride it!!!

Had mine a few years now but only done about 5000 miles
Never had any problems with the excellent brakes, definately no juddering. My wife Gwen who has ridden pillion for well over 50yrs says it is the best bike she has travelled on,defo no vibrations.I swapped a Honda CB1300s for the 1200st because Gwen complained of vibration through the footpeg & refused to go on it.Hope you sort it as I am sure you will love it when it is right.

No idea about the foot peg
With regards the brakes, warped discs are not unheard of, although not overly common. Others (certainly on the 1200s, which I guess is similar) have had suspected problems with build up of pad material on the disc causing judder.
Both easily remedied, the former being more expensive than the latter.

before you replace the discs, always clean the springs inthe bobbins, sometimes they can seize and cause judder

Thanks for the advice so far, haven't bought the bike yet, wanted to check opinion out on what I thought wasn't right before committing myself.
Will relay the info back to the dealer and see what they say, but obviously the pillion footrest vibrations are not normal for this model.

Had mine 2 Years In june this year and have done 26k Miles on it in that time - commuting - some two up club riding and European trips. No peg vibes for Mrs Tuetonic Tangerine - sounds like maybe T/B's need balancing. My Front brakes sort of Moan rather than judder and I suspect new pads a a good clean or de-glaze of the disc will cure it. I get over 50mpg commuting and over 55mpg two up with panniers. It uses a little oil I suspect it's evaporation and going up the breather as it does not smoke at all - Bike had now done 36,000 miles.

TT, thanks for the info, much appreciated, sounds like it will be ideal for what we need if the dealer can get the vibes sorted.
Interestingly, said dealer phoned today to say that they had discovered that the rear tyre had been fitted the wrong way around and was out of balance!
Don't think this is the cause, but it's a bit worrying as it has a full SH!
Told him it might be worth checking the silencer mounting, as it is right next to LH pillion footrest, so hr will do and get back to me.
Anyone know of a nice R1200ST near to S Wales? They all seem to be miles away!
