Time for an extra bike in the garage...
Just took it out for a test run, but the motor seems a little asthmatic and underpowered. The salesman assured me it would loosen up and develop more power with prolonged use...
Seriously though, I've had a couple of colleagues at work suffer serious health issues of late, and taking a long hard look at my personal fitness and health levels, I decided it's time to take action and get a lot fitter and lighter. I am enrolled in the Pru Health "Vitality" health insurance scheme at work, and they will subsidise the cost of the bike quite significantly, so why not?
I have an old Trek Mountain bike which has not seen much active use since my son's was stolen, so that can go on Gumtree. I just did my old fitness circuit up to Hampton Court Palace, and along the river to Kingston Bridge and back, and I did a similar time on the new BMC as I used to do on my Trek when I was a tad fitter, so the BMC is clearly a better road bike for me.
I am however determined not to be a MAMIL*, so will be using my baggy mountain bike trousers when out and about.
Cheers,
Paul
