So, I was asked to post a couple of pics of the Fazer when I got it. I've had it a few weeks now and done a few hundred miles on it. It came with the suspension set to full hard (previous owner was 5stone heavier than me!) so i've dealt with that and it's actually pretty good now. The rear shock is an almost new full spec Maxton and now i've tinkered with it, it's lovely. The gear box was great on upshifts, being able to snick through the gears clutchlessly with ease, but going down was really bloody hard. I did a bit of research and found that the chain is supposed have 45-50mm of slack (long swingarm) and it only had 20mm. Duly adjusted correctly I can now manage to downshift without straining my foot! I'm not sure how long i'll keep it, i'm a two cylinder guy at heart.
I can't get over how clean it is. It won't stay like that for long...

Re: Not a BMW
Very clean bike, a good buy
Always fancied a Fazer with it's detuned R1 motor, blue spots and more touring inspired seating position when I looked at taking my "99 R1 off the road in 2002 and make into a dedicated track bike but wanted a more relaxed ride so bought my XJR
Never heard a bad report about them

I like to keep our bikes clean but that is on another level.
Beautiful bike, how many miles has it covered?

Re: Not a BMW
It has clearly been well looked after by the previous owner, so hopefully many trouble free miles ahead of you.
Cheers,
Paul

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.
Re: Not a BMW
That rear sprocket and chain have been cleaned and polished off the bike, and then mounted using snooker referee’s gloves !!
I think PB Boxer had the successor to that one - a great do-it-all type of bike that you can load with luggage and tour at ease.....

Well, it's a 'keep me on the road' bike until I decide on something else. I'll probably be taking it to France in a few weeks and i'll see how I feel moving forward.

Re: Not a BMW
That's one hell of a clean example, Steve - a great find. I had my eye on one of these when I got my VFR.
I tend to agree re the twin vs IL4 thing, and for the first few months with my Blackbird I missed the feel of a large capacity twin. Over time though, I got to love it - it's very different of course (as you know) but ended up really liking it.

Do they all come with the low foot pegs ?
I'm sure they'd be dragging on the round abouts !!
Its a real beauty , and as you say , clean !!

Better than new!
That looks just like my old mans old one. Cracking bikes.
I have had 2 of the later injected Fazers. They really are rather good.

Re: Not a BMW
Its been a couple of years since you posted this, but I do hope its still in similar condition- its condition is certainly impressive! I have the same bike but it is no where near the same condition - but still a trouble-free bike after 100k+ kms. Old school still rocks!
