Yes, bike is real 'ansum. It's the wheels that do it I think. Might I sugest: If you get a piece of clear plastic pipe about 8" long and slit it along one side you can fit it on the cross bar of the stand. It'll stop stones chipping the paint. Because the bars not straight you'll need a heat gun to mould it. My stand needs painting (silver? ) so that's what I'll be doing.
.
Mr. Spock is my role model so be advised; I possess no (discernible) sense of humour.
It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.

Thanks for all the comments.
I cant believe it will be 10 years old this year. These Beemers do seem to hold up well. It's certainly not "pampered" and see's most weather. It's done about 24K miles
The screen! I bought it second hand a couple of years ago. I cant remember what make he told me it was. I am sure someone on her will be able to identify it.
I have always liked the idea of the main stand, but I didn't have one until recently. The bike came with front and rear Abba stands.
When I managed to get hold of one recently I knew it had to be silver!
Looking at pictures on the net of the 1100s with mainstands fitted, it was obvious why people removed them. In black it looks like it's not actually made for the bike, looks like it's borrowed from something else. I am planning on doing the sidestand in silver as well. You're right about catching stone chips/crap on the crossbar Nic. This picture was taken when I had just returned from the GS intake tubes test run. It was also the bikes first outing with the main stand fitted, it was already full of road crap on the crossbar!
Black engine! yes, apparently it was a factory option when new.
By the way, if anyone is intersted the paint I use is VHT engine enamel SP127 Universal Aluminum. I have used it for some time in my restorations. Really tuff stuff, nearly on par with powder coating. And its a perfect match for the bottom of the fork legs that a lot of guys seem to have to repaint.
I use it on engines a lot, this barrel is sprayed with it.
