It's a blue cover but didn't want the bobbies getting funny about showing a blue light so sprayed the back of it with black satin paint and used a hole cutter to make a small hole to allow some of the dipped beam through for safety.

If I need to use the bike at night it pops off easily and tucks in my jacket.

Having seen several lights with holes in or cracked in work I'm a bit paranoid about it now :D

Headlamps are expensive covers are cheaper. If your lamp has a hole in the glass it will fail the MOT. So fix the hole with Araldite and then fit a cover to stop it happening again. :D -- Voice of experience with my 1100s.

I bought a protector for my RT the day after I bought it and before I collected it from the dealer. (I found it interesting that the one I bought via e-bay was made by the Piper Aircraft company of California so aircraft windshield spec plastic / perspex - around £50 but waaaaaaay cheaper than a new headlamp unit.

Definitely .... I have a clear cover on my RT and came into work one morning with half missing as it had been hit by a flying something on the motorway .... saved an £800 headlamp that day! :D

I know I've made a slight compromise by having a hole in the protector and I have thought of putting some clear Perspex behind it but figure I'd be very unlucky to have a stone hit that exact spot

£how £much?
Similar price for the 1100S?
I have a yellow cover on a shelf in the garage from years ago. Going to buy some velcro tomorrow and get it on the light before the next ride.
I have to say, the RM bikes do look the part. I never saw them race in anger which is a shame.
