Mr. Spock is my role model so be advised; I possess no (discernible) sense of humour.
It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.

Well I have to say that originaly I was just looking for the actual faces but the German company that was advertizing them on ebay said they did'nt have any MPH ones. Then a fellow Trixer got in touch and said he had the complete and brand new 'head' so I bought that and apart from it being a bit of a longwinded chore, fitting was pretty straightfoward. I did initialy try to swop the faces over so that I could keep the original mileage but I found it impossible to remove the 'speedo' needle. I got in touch with the Germans again and they said to use a couple of spoons as levers under the needle, but in the end I decided to do a full sevice and start from zero miles. Well it made sense to me.
To give you clue as to why I took the 'easy' route here are the instructions I got from Germany
Installation Instructions
First Remove speedometer, loosen the screws on the back and open the case.
In some models, the housings are pressed together with a ring from the top (get this, please separate instructions)
Second Dials without visible pointer stops / without spring loading of the pointer
continue to step 3
2.1 Dials with visible hand stopper / spring-loading of the pointer
Pointer counterclockwise, carefully fold over the stopper and carefully let hang freely, now we have the actual zero point. This absolute zero point must be marked on the housing (not the old dials).
Third The hands are best pry off with two teaspoons of protecting the originals here dials with 2 pieces of paper under the spoons from scratch. With two spoons now the pointer as close as possible to pry the shaft straight down, but careful not to twist the pointer (zero point must be maintained). Some speedometers come out with the wave of the hand, however, is model dependent.
4th Dials without 2 screws for attachment
The dials are stuck, but can be solved again. These carry a knife under the speedometer dials, and solve the glue piece by piece.
4.1 dials which are secured with 2 screws
Screws can now be turned out and the old speedometer dials are removed.
5th The pointer stops
Please remove the pointer stops, they will be reused. There are 2 versions:
1.5 Pointer stop is clipped: speedometer dials on a table and push the clip. Be careful, he can quickly jump away, so just put a cloth over it.
2.5 Pointer stopper is pressed: this must be from the back a little to be drilled, then he can be hit with a nail out very carefully.
6th For more tips and information
Now might be changed if the speedo lighting yet to get a more even illumination and prevent shadows. The easiest way you used a 50cm long LED strip is stuck around, in the case. For a 100%, even illumination, a light sheet or individual LEDs with a wide opening angle or base can be installed. The intensity or color is to choose depending on your taste. A test of the new lighting to perform only once without hands. The hands are the simplest model with paint or car paint pen painted as desired.
Please do not use super glue, this is very fluid and moves between the layers.
7th New gauges mounted
In reverse order put everything together, washers and replace speedometer pointer to the selected position (with hand brakes) or exactly zero (no pointer stops).
Push hands is not too deep, let 2 mm air and if necessary, use two strips of cardboard.
