R100S out at the weekend.

Had a nice (and suprisingly fast!) ride through the Peak District on Sat.

New fork springs, a service, new throttle cables, a full carb clean, front brake clean/set up and a decent run seem to have transformed the R100S. It's running like silk now! :)

Planing a weekend camping trip on it as soon as the weather picks up. :)

Looking good! There was no chance of a spin out here this weekend it's been howling a gale.

Then this morning an inch plus of snow fell just before the morning commute which made things a bit twitchy on the bike :)

You saying about fork springs, reminds me I want to get hold of some for the R80RS as it feels a bit soft at the front end, I suspect it has standard springs in which don't handle the fairing very well

I think they're quite cheap from Motobins, and it was a quick job (appart from the bolt I sheared off in the process!) may take a bit longer on an RS though, think the fairing will have to come off....

I didn't realise your bike was an R80, I thought all RS's had the 1000cc engine....

Mine was a dealer bling bike Steve, the original selling dealer, Coombes of Guildford had had the R80 mono in stock for ages and decided to drape it in the contents of the accessory catalogue to try and shift it :)

It was built in 79, but first registered in 1980. I believe it's one of the last heavy flywheel/ATE braked models built.

I was looking through the various history I got with it last night. Seems the original owner traded in his 1 year old (1979) Triumph T140 Special for the new R100S, then kept it for over 24 years!

Lets have some photos then Steve! (I'm sure I've seen it before, but can't find the threads with the photos now..)

Seems like a good mix, the smoother engine with the best fairing. :)

They're Keihan stainless that were fitted from new as part of the parts shop bling up :) Seem same sound as standard

You could probably buy 2 R1100s with the finance from selling that, which seams very odd... but RSs are going for silly money at the moment, especially clean examples with the 'solo' seat.

I used to have an R100RS - over 100,000 miles on it with just a replacement clutch as the only major expense. Great bikes!
