I'll quite happily ride in Hi Vis.
But most of my riding is with sleepy commuter and I need every bit of visibility I can get.
But to be honest I am too old to be fashionable.
So that's how it's done.

Not a fashion faux-pas as such, but I cannot understand the latest 'trend' for some motorcyclists to ride with their headlight on main beam...
1. It's highly dangerous to other road users
2. It actually makes them less visible as it masks all speed/positioning/distance clues.
3. It's bloody annoying.
4. It may even be illegal - Ali (Yogi) would be able to clear this up for us though.[/quote]
I agree!
That would be classed as causing undue dazzle or discomfort...

Thanks for the clarification Ali (and Nick too).
I know it's kinda off topic (sorry Nick) but the word about hi-viz, at least from the Stonehaven Cooncil yard lunchtime 'discussion' is that yes, it can be seen further away etc, and HSE means some of us have to wear it daily, but greatly it relies on people actually SEEING you
There are plenty guys, from scaffies (binmen to non Scots!) to road workers will tell you every day that folk have nearly mown them down despite Aberdeenshire's regulation hi-viz trousers and vests/jackets.
Personally, I don't wear any on the bike, I've got a mainly white helmet, and the headlight is always on, but my textiles are grey and I wear a black cut off work shirt over the top. I have in the past used yellow leggings & a Sam Browne (is that right?), but I have seen absolutely NO difference in the number of folk who've pulled out (or whatever type incident) in front of me

Reg, had the same thing happen to me in the van, I think they only pull out in front of the motorhome because they don`t want to get stuck behind us.
