R1200S panniers wanted

About to buy a 1200S to replace my stolen R1100S and although it comes with rails and fittings there are no bags present.

So, if anyone has a pair of bags up for sale I'd really really love to hear from you.

Hello,

Problem is they are unique to the R1200S (I do stand to be corrected of course!) and as such there is a limited market. Sometimes you do see them on eBay.de at .....reasonable money..... but the Euro exchange rate is lower at oresent than it has been.

I have a pair luckily which I bought new (less 15% from a friendly BMW dealer) and they are quite a decent if pricey option.

Was hoping finding something used and a cheaper tbh, broke after the theft and replacement bike

They are quite reasonably priced to be honest. More bad new though as even though you have the rails you will need to buy locks too and they ain't cheap especially if you want them coded (1 key fits all) to the bike which is a dealer option I think.

Keep looking though you may be lucky.

General question to the collective here - do these also fit one of the F series bikes as well which may produce something if you search for them under the right F series bike?

You could search the part numbers on the RealOem site and compare and go from there? You can get to it through the Motorworks site.

I had these on my k1200r, and frankly they're a waste of time. You can get more in a large tail pack than these. I do like having the security of hard panniers however.
One thing that I had noticed is that the new R1200rs panniers looked to have a similar fitting system. I wonder if these would fit, then you'd have cases that'll take more than a pair of trainers and a clean T shirt.

I am sure that the K series panniers are not suitable and that these are (almost) unique to the R1200S....and possibly an F series hence the high price and relative scarcity.

The K series have a huge cutout which the R series don't seem to have which leads me to believe they would fit more

Specific to the R, waited 10 months for some to come up on ebay but never did. Went with the Germany option in the end which worked out at around £390 with coded locks. You should note that you have to code the locks yourself by building them around your key. Not as bad as it sounds but a little fiddly.

I think that the K ones are different, as someone else said they have bigger cutouts. But even so the panniers are so small as to next to useless.

I don't agree with this, I've used them to great success on many trips the last being a 16 night euro trip last year, they carried all I needed in conjunction with a tank bag. Iirc the closed capacity is 17ltr so 35 for both, this can be increased as they are expandable.

The part numbers according to RealOEM are unique to the R1200S or HP2 so my thought that the F series panniers will fit is wrong so your avenue of choice narrows.

For the record the part numbers are:

Right Sports Bag/Pannier - 71607723514
Left Sports Bag/Pannier 71607723513.

Might be worth dropping them into Google to see if any are on sale elsewhere.

I may almost be a lone voice but I will speak up in defence of the pannier systems as I have had both a K1300S and now an R1200S. I have always found them to be about right as long as you pack soft clothing and don't try and get a suitcase in there!

The expanding capability is useful as is the interior liner bag which keeps everything dry and can just be removed on arrival. Just my thoughts.
