I’ve seen a black one on eBay with almost 100k on it starting at £2000 iirc.
That must be the cheapest I’ve seen. I’m not sure how the engine would stand up to the rigors of the track mind. Are you planning any engine fettling?
Out of interest, is it for a race series or just as and when?

Yup. I missed that one by about 5 minutes, I had second dibs on it but, understandably, the first place guy grabbed it (and who wouldn't?). I don't mind about the engine and milage, its a good, strong lump once you changed the valves out and if you keep the oil fresh, it can take a hell of a beating. I've been using Hexheads and Oilheads for trackdays and instruction for a few years (and dishing out proper hard work to both) - my last hexy GS was a belter (alongside my BCR) and when I changed to a Wethead, I kept loads of useful bits for it so they will be going on before trips to Simon and his dyno at Race Engineering and Darren at MC Technics for final suspension fettling.

I don't race bikes (I'm too fat for that), but do trackdays and they were a common thing for me before the twins arrived. I'm coming back to it again now, so 2 or 3 instruction days a year plus another 4 or 5 on my own at the UK circuits will be about it for the moment. I have the BCR about right now and have always promised myself a 12S to work on when the time was right. Well the time is right and I'm on the lookout...

Shame you missed out on that one. It would be nice to watch a 1200S being used in anger especially on a twisty track. I’m sure in the right hands it could surprise a few 1000 cc bikes in the turns.
It might be worth keeping en eye out for sales in Germany and Holland?

Never mind a 12S, the 11S has a history of upsetting R1, Blade, Ducati and Gixxer riders, even at tracks like the 'Ring and Spa.
As I am sure Damian will agree.

I think you've got this "eat more pies coz it fixes your suspension" wrong Steve.
You just get more grip out of the tyres - nowt to do with suspension.

Mine embarrassed a few 1000's on a trackday at Cadwell. Grunty torque out of the corners always caught out the rev hunters.
