There are no bolts on the end cans... normally. Normally you will release the can to up pipe clamp.... the end cans then slide rearward off 2 spigots facing the rear. The corresponding "holes" in the end cans have rubber bungs in them.... which may make an easy release tricky. But be patie...

You have obviously had a good owner..... mine was a BMW pressbike and has seen 2 owners since 2003.... both of which, did not take a lot of care of the usual bits like forks and front engine cover. http://usera.imagecave.com/snavetrauts/R1100S/P1000803.jpg Everything else is great and the engine is ...

Taking the plastics off is a 5 minute job.... literally, when you have done it a few times. I personally do not take of the central panel with filler as you can get to all the bits w/out doing so.

Keep the faith... you WILL enjoy it.

It's quite easy... but the choice of screw driver on one of the screws is critical (awkward angles).

Just a pointer... stick some copperslip or just plain grease on them for the next time... it makes it so much easier to then change them again when ready.

Cheers

Cheers Steptoe...... Just done mine... Both end floats were at about .004 inches so I adjusted them down to .002, the minimum. Sorry about the conversion. It seems to me that the tolerance given by the manual is incredibly wide. .05mm to .40mm.... that .002 to .016 in old money. That's very wide is'...

""""Must admit when I mooted the idea to Ann about this 11R she said 'well if you want it that's up to you'. Now, most blokes would give up drink for a week* for that sort of answer - it just sends me into an indecisive tailspin. :D"""" If my SWMBO said that t...

Welcome AJB...... You have chosen/researched well.... especially for a big bloke like you. The S is a very rewarding ride and you get out what you put in ..BUT it is very safe, very predictable and a bloody good allrounder... a safe set of wheels... what more can i say. If you love it..... you will ...

RC8..... Snatchy???

I think that KTM are having great problems with the low down mapping of the LC8 engine.... On the 990 Adventure they have had similar problems.... most common mod is a "geared" throttle cam to reduce the snatchiness.

T T T...... Thanks for your hard work... much appreciated. Like you, I think this is a non BMW part "made good" for the S. I try to encourage SWMBO to take her own bike out when we ride... but, although she is an excellent passenger....she does slide down on a very slippery seat. tried one...
