I'm still not sure wh...

Is it that the police are not doing anything, so the council have to deal with the problem. They could install cctv, the police could ignore it. Ban motorcyclists using a local law,, and council appointed contractors can issue PCNs and fine any motorcyclist on the road. The problem may then go away....

It looks to me to be a council fine, in the same way a parking ticket is. London councils have 52 as a category a fine, £120 - £130, probably with a discount if you pay up quickly and don't take it to court. A PCN. £65 if paid within 14 days, £130 After that. http://pcnportal.co.uk/london-borough-of...

In my experience continental have QC issues. I've had more than one fail for bubbling or uneven wear. I don't buy them any more. The last one wore out after about 800 miles. I left for a tour Ireland on a new rear, and was worried that I would not get home. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2501/3824670...

I nod to other bikes, not that many commute at this time of year, and I generally get a response. Recently I've noticed that I'm ignored by the adventure BMW's. I see the same two every few days or so, both totally ignore me. Filtering , I give a wave whenever I can, especially if someone has moved ...

Timbox2,

Thanks for the pointer. I'll have to try this sometime next week. I have my 12 month old Grandson with me this weekend, so I'll have little bike time. I'll let you know how I get on.

This morning was very cold, -8 or so on my thermometer. No lights, slow turn over before she fired up, and 30 seconds or so before the lights came on. After work, fast turn over, and lights straight away. I wonder if the battery is starting to fail, and something needs a good 12 volts before the lig...
