The actual intake system looks pretty simple, and shouldn't require much in the way of fabricating or parts to make something similar. If I was in the UK where my bike is, rather than being in Brazil, I'd be keen to make something up and try, but without a PCIII and a dyno, it would probably be a bi...

Airboxes are generally good, but it depends on how well they are designed. The manufacturer's objectives may or may not correlate directly with your own, so something like intake noise might not be a concern to you, while it would be to the majority of consumers. You may like to have a look here to ...

I sold my TL and bought an R1100S. While I don't regret my decision, I do miss the old TL. However, the majority of the miles I was doing was put in on a few longish trips 2 up, with the missus on the back, and the TL, while perfectly capable of racking up the miles, wasn't necessarily the most rela...

Brazil is hot and humid, although at the moment it's unseasonably cool and damp, which makes it a good bit more pleasant for the likes of me :D One thing which is rather crazy is the price of motorbikes - new they cost more than double of the UK, mainly through import taxes being 100% on items alrea...

Indeed, it was a bit of a case of things getting progressively worse with the catectomy :o Regarding the oil-filter tool - as afar as I can recall, they are only about a fiver, and your BMW stealership should hold them in stock. I would have though that the clearance around the filter may mean that ...

Vines obliged with a 'reassuringly expensive' part, as Motorworks didn't have any second hand ones knocking around, so I popped it in last night. Of course, it wasn't quite as straightforward as it might have been - a very poorly lit and pretty much full garage was a good start, but secondly, throug...

Cheers guys - tis most certainly that - last night the lights weren't working, and wiggling didn't breath any life into them, but a bit later, they were working, and wiggling killed them, so that's the culprit. Dropped into Vines in Guildford on the way home, about £50 from them, so I'll give Motorw...

Jason, Thanks for your thoughts - I can imagine that it would take me quite a long time to fiddle about and trace the fault back to the ingintion barrel :o Are you saying that I need a new ignition barrel, as it wasn't quite clear :? I'm assuming that you can juggle the tumblers around as you can wi...

Intermittant Tail Light Problem
Got back from Brazil on Thursday after 3 months, and was delighted that the S fired up first go, even with a Datatool alarm draining the battery in my absence :D However, on first glance, the tail light bulb had blown, but a replacement hasn't fixed the problem - the brake light works fine, but the ...

Mileage is approaching 37K, of which I've done about 1K since fitting the y-piece, and with an overall drop in fuel economy of around 35% ish :( I suppose I could have damaged one of the Lamda wires whilst butchering the exhaust during my delicate disassembly procedure a couple of weeks ago :? The y...

I'd potentially be interested in a PC3, depending on price. Slight thread hijack here, but subsequent to fitting a Remus Y-piece, I've noticed a significant drop in MPG. It seems to be running very rich, and whilst on the way up to Edinburgh the other week on the M1, it ran dry after 148 miles :shoc...

I bought one of these for my very noisy trailie, but never got round to fitting it, so I can't say how good they are, but seem like reasonable value. If it's only for the MOT though, seeing how simple they are, it would be pretty easy to knock up something simple to pop in for a few minutes. In this...

Well, took her out for a spin, and she certainly makes a nicer noise now - even pops and burbles, just the way I like it 8) Has a good bit more oomph too, and the shorter paralever arm certainly sharpens up the steering nicely :) I will have to make a small adjustement to the centre-stand stop thoug...

Right, the day of reckoning dawned, and I collected my arsenal of weaponry - mainly of the hitty and grindy variety - as can be seen, it was going to be a delicate technical operation :) http://turboferret.co.uk/vehicles/photos/r1100s04.jpg Large amounts of heat, plus gas and rapidly increasing size...

Bars looked immaculate, purchased from a Boxertrixer, surely I couldn't have been given dodgy goods  All seems a little strange, the old bars certainly didn't do this :? I'm sure I'll find out at some point - I'll have all of her clothes off at the weekend, and I'll have a good shifty :) Cheers...
