Re: London Emission Zone

Hi there ... I just entered about 25 number plates from R1100 / R1150 up to 2005 into the TFL ULEZ system. None of them were compliant and all subject to the ULEZ charge. So it seems the random cut-off is based on age. If anyone who was successful with BMW would be so kind to share their compliance ...

Re: London Emission Zone

Here's the response I received from eccoc@bmw.co.uk re my 1999 R1100S ' ... Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your e-mail. Unfortunately, due to the age of the vehicle, there is no technical information available (including emissions) in our systems. It is with regret we cannot be of greater assistance....

Re: Clutch slipping. 11s 99 plate

Hi ... changed the whole clutch assembly on mine. It is not 'too' difficult but takes a lot of time as almost the whole bike has to be stripped down. All that is left is the front forks and engine. The clutch was worn out but also contaminated by a leaking clutch slave cylinder. Changed the seals an...

Re: Sad News

Hi Peter

Really sorry to hear the news about Alan.
I remember when we first met up (many moons ago) at the B&B bar in Cadwell for the Hopp Rider Day.

Thoughts with you.

I did the IAM training and thought it was very good. In particular, how to anticipate situations, reading the vanishing point and positioning on the road. They certainly don't hang around and it is a good stepping stone to other advanced training. Others here have used individual trainers with posit...

Several years ago, I took my 1100S with full Laser system to Chiswick Honda for a pre-booked MOT. The tester came out before I'd dismounted and told me not to bother bringing it in as he was going to fail it on the noise level.

Hello Hayden I have the same issue as you. I changed leaking seal by the clutch slave cylinder (+ the input shaft seal) no problem. The output shaft seal was fine but started leaking when I replaced the seal with a brown one. Changed seal again but started leaking after 5 miles. I bought a 3rd seal ...

If the HP2 gearbox is similar to the R1100S, then the rear seal on the gearbox input shaft could have failed. This is the area where the clutch slave cylinder and actuator push rod reside. It is why the clutch started slipping on my R11S - but at 50k miles. It is/was a fairly common issue. The seal(...

f90x - a sprayer at a local classic car garage did them two-pack. He's moved on now but I have his number somewhere and will pm it to you.
Wheels, rocker covers and pillion pegs were around 200 pounds.

cheers

Definitely use Loctite. I Loctited the front disc bolts, torqued them, then attached the rear disc bolts finger tight, fitted the wheel and attached a reminder on the ignition saying 'torque bolts before riding - which I did a couple of days later but forgot the Loctite. As the bolt became loose and...

Re: Tap Set

Can anyone give me the details of where I can buy a 8mm x 1.00 tap piece for clearing out the threads in the front wheel when the discs are taken off. I know I should heat up the allen bolts a bit to soften the loctite and then clean the threads out with the above tap. I tried to get a tap kit at t...

On a previous S, I made a wooden block with a piston sized notch which allowed only one piston to operate at any given time (but not far enough to pop it out) using the brake lever. Remove the block, clean the piston surface and then push back in. Repeat on other pistons. My current pistons work bac...

I had an R1100GS back in the day. The best bit over the S was the ability to remove the pillion seat pad and strap a couple of cases of wine and 24 pack of beer to the flat paltform unerneath 8)
