This is normal for all boxer boxes. Moving it backwards is the best bet. If the bike has done more than 12k, change the oil to semi or fully synth oil 75/90 makes a big difference.

Did fitting just the headers make any difference. I fancy the look of the BOS ones for about £300.

Twoddle! I did 40k on my R1100SS until I changed to an R1200S last year. Having ridden 15k I can tell you the 12 is more comfortable and has better tank range than the 11. It may be a smaller tank but is still good for over 200 miles touring and with the countdown you can drain every last drop ...

On my 3rd set of tyres now. Pilot Powers first were pretty good but had a tendancy to drop in last minute when cranked over; 4500mls. Z6's next which were the best I found for my r1100s but did not suit the r1200s. Turned in much quicker than the Powers but needed lower pressures to get the same ...

R1200S DVD Repair Manual

Anyone bought one yet? BMW want £53 for the DVD, it needs to be damn good for that money; perhaps it contains naked scenes, or is that the R1200R DVD!

R1200S Tyre Pressures

What are you guys running tyre pressures at? I only ride solo; the manual says 32/36 but this lacks precision & I can't feel whats going on. Metzler recommend 36/42 but this goes the other way, nice & direct but not enough grip! Have tried somewhere in between but I'm still not convinced.

Save yourself some dosh. I used a car scissor jack successfully for years; stick it under the frame near the rh foot rest for lifting the rear wheel and under the front of the engine for the front wheel. No problems, works on the R1200S also.

Beware - R1200S Baglux tank cover

Baglux couldn't show me any pics of a tank cover fitted to a Yellow R1200S but said if I bought one & didn't like it I could return it no hassle. When it turned up it was obvious that the colour was completely different, almost being lemon. Tried it on the bike & it looked awful; even the Mrs said ...

R1200S Tyres

Getting ready to replace my Pilot Powers after 4,700 miles. Not bad for a sporty tyre but wondered how others rate the alternatives. I've seen the majority wearing Metzler M1's; are they any good or has anyone tried anything else?

Interested to see you have started to experiment with the ohlins set up. Have you found some good road settings yet? I am still running in but yet to find my ideal, didn't get a toolkit either so haven't been able to attack the preload. The front spring feels a little weak with the damping having to ...

That would be me then. Great bike but still running in at the moment. Goes in for it's first service tomorrow, so this Friday you should see it taking a bit more of a spanking!
