Hi Keith,
I'm a newbie to 1100S (just 4 years) but that's enough to give you plenty of opportunities to experience the wonders of this bike!
My question to you at this stage (as I have come across posts not related to the 1100S on this forum) is whether your bike is an 1100s - if so, my guess ...

Re: ABS-ectomy
Having lived this problem, here’s my take for what it’s worth ....
1. An ABSectomy is a modification; any inspection of the bike would show that a bike post-ABSectomy would still have the features of an ABS bike, still having the sensors etc (required rear on some models/R1100S for speedo). In ...

Re: The dreaded ABS/EVO .... rear brake
Thanks - will check it out - the wires are so flimsy compared to my airhead!
Thanks.

The dreaded ABS/EVO .... rear brake
Just wondering if anyone has experienced a problem where on ignition on, the servo performs its checks and the pump works Ok for the front brake, but 'no whirring' for the rear brake? I can hear the microswitch click, but that's it.
It seems weird that it performs its checks Ok - are there any ...

Re: R1100S Integral ABS/Servo query
Thanks for the last replies and hope everyone had a good Xmas; the bike’s laid up at the moment (so am I - had a bad chest) whilst the roads are icy/salty.
I’m assuming that if the brake fluid level is low that it’s because of wear in the brake pads, and given the amount of work to get at the ABS ...

Re: R1100S Integral ABS/Servo query
Thanks Justcruising - agree re the route to take with changing the fluid - just never done it on this system before and a bit nervous about 'buggering' the servo or something. I'd become reasonably competent with fixing and servicing the ABS 1 on the K's, but this seems a whole new ball game!

R1100S Integral ABS/Servo query
Had the R1100S a year now, having been using a K bike for the previous 10 years or so, and its really nice to get back to twin cylinder motorcycling.
Thanks for the forum - it’s very useful with lots of knowledgable people having contributed over the years (and some not so ...) - thanks.

Re: R1100S Dipped headlight not firing up
Thanks Nigel, Paul & Kev - your posts have helped.
Unfortunately, no plug & play for me as the kit on the bike had been installed in Japan; hence, buying a new kit and working it out from there.

Re: R1100S Dipped headlight not firing up
Thanks for the feedback.
As the previous owner had converted the bike to HiD, I take it that I just need to get a suitable H1 bulb holder and connect a live and earth to it if I downgrade it to H1 - this could be the same feed that's going via the ingnition to the HiD?
I will get in touch with the ...

Re: R1100S Dipped headlight not firing up
I'm still experiencing a problem with this dippped headlight.
I've had a chance to peel off the plastic and check for any obvious problems with wiring etc, with no luck.
The connector that feeds the HiD ballast registers 12.8v with the ignition switch on (engine not running) and 14.8v (I ...

Re: R1100S Dipped headlight not firing up
Thanks Paul - I note from the forum (and unsure if it applies to all R11S') but my model has the crumbling outer sheathing to the loom and the loom does seem very tight in places. I will re-inspect - I can now get the Tupperware off in about 8 minutes!

Re: R1100S Dipped headlight not firing up
Thanks Nigel.
Yes, the main beam works; I've checked the relays or any visual signs of corrosion or tracking and all seemed Ok.
Bad earth could explain why they have come on after a long ride and then won't fire when I turn the key back on. I think the wiring is the original for the lights, being ...
